Frequently Asked Consumer Questions

Q: How did I get on BadCustomer.com's list?
A: The only way a consumer can be put on the BadCustomer list is if they have done a chargeback with one of our merchant partners without first exhausting all possibilities to avoid performing a chargeback with that merchant partner.

Q: Can I get a report of information you have on record for me?
A: Yes. You can order a report by going here .

Q: Is there a fee for removing myself from the List?
A: No. Removing yourself from the list is free. We do ask that you pledge not to do a chargaback in the future without first exhausting all other possibilities.

Q: What is a chargeback?
A: A chargeback is the process of disputing a transaction through your credit/debit card issuer.

Q: Why are chargebacks bad for businesses?
A: Most businesses would rather resolve billing disputes and refunds without a chargeback, because chargebacks cost businesses bank fees and can damage a merchant relationship.

Q: Why are chargebacks bad for customers?
A: Issuing a chargeback instead of simply pursuing a legitimate refund hurts the customer because the customer then becomes marked as a bad risk by online merchants. Many merchants will simply refuse to do business with customers who have a history of charging back.

Q: What happens if I issue a chargeback without trying to resolve the issue first?
A: If you issue a chargeback against companies protected by BadCustomer.com’s Gatekeeper program, you’ll be placed on the BadCustomer.com list. At that point, you’ll be refused service by all members of BadCustomer.com. This can seriously curtail your ability to make purchases online.

Q: What should I do instead of charging back?
A: Most merchants will be more than happy to refund your money if you are unhappy with your purchase. The vast majority of merchants have Customer Service numbers set up specifically to handle your billing issues. ALWAYS contact the merchant before attempting to issue a chargeback.

Q: Can I be removed from the list once I’m on it?

A: Yes. There’s a form on the home page of this site that allows you to remove yourself from the BadCustomer.com database. There is no charge for this service. We do ask you to pledge that, in the future, you will exhaust all refund options and work with our Dispute Mediation department before you resort to a chargeback.
